Jesse Aweida
Jesse is widely regarded as the father of the computer data storage industry in Colorado. He was the Chairman and President of Storage Technology Corporation, the company which he founded in 1969 and built into a billion dollar company in twelve years. Many of the data storage and technology related companies in Boulder County were started by former employees and others associated with StorageTek. Since leaving the company, Jesse has been involved in the financing and startup of several of these companies, both individually and as the General Partner of Aweida Venture Partners. Jesse and his wife, Maria, have been active contributors to non-profit organizations.
Dan Aweida
Dan joined the firm in 1991 to work closely with the portfolio investment companies in the telecom, data storage, and IT industries while also managing the stock portfolio of AVP. Today, his primary focus is in data storage, clean technologies, and ecommerce related businesses. He works with portfolio companies and assists them with strategic guidance, financial analysis and helps them to avoid navigational potholes without micromanaging their efforts. He serves on the board of Channel Intelligence, Privacy Networks, eStarcom, TerraXML, Atrato, and Storage Genetics.
Dan is also the President of Aweida Properties, Inc., which develops commercial land and operates multple commercial buildings which house approximately 130,000 sq.ft. in Boulder County.
Dan earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Northern Colorado and has an M.B.A. in Finance from Regis University. He was a founding member of the Regis Forum Technology Task Force, a group created to guide the technology curriculum at Regis. He also serves on the board of the Boulder Valley YMCA.
Alan Kenney
Al has been associated with Aweida Venture Partners and its affiliated entities as legal counsel since their inception. Prior to his association with the firm he served as General Counsel to Aspen Peripherals Inc., Aweida Systems Corporation and Storage Technology Corporation. He was also Tax Attorney for Samsonite Corporation and a CPA on the tax staff of Arthur Andersen & Co. Al has a BS in Business Administration from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Colorado.
Kathy Mattison
Kathy joined the firm in 1998 as an Office Manager. Since then she has taken on the duties of Property Management which consists of the daily operations of Aweida Properties located in Boulder, CO along with the office building at 500 Discovery Parkway in Superior, CO. Kathy has a paralegal certificate as well as many years of office management experience. Prior to working with Aweida Ventures, Kathy had been involved with other data storage companies in the Boulder County area.
Viki McKinney
Viki has been with Aweida Venture Partners since 2000 as a paralegal. Prior to joining the firm, she was a paralegal at Exabyte Corporation, specializing in stock option plans, and SEC filings for the corporation. She also was associated with Storage Technology Corporation maintaining the stock option plans as well as coordinating activities for the subsidiaries as well as overseeing the compliance with federal requirements for exporting of products.
